The Customer

Z-Tech is involved in breast cancer research and clinical trials of various drugs. At Z-Tech the nurses prepare a daily progress report for the drug trials on the patients. These reports are not only important from their research point of view but also are important in submission to the authorities during approval of the concerned drugs.

To save on paper and time, Z-Tech decided to invest in an application, which would allow nurses to prepare their daily progress reports in a PDF document in an electronic format. They approached E-lock for a solution to sign these PDF documents with the ability to associate handwritten signatures with digital signatures

E-Lock ProSigner solution met Z-Tech’s requirements. Z Tech has deployed E-Lock ProSigner on all nursing stations where the attendant nurse digitally signs the daily progress reports. For signing their PDF documents Z Tech preferred ProSigner to Adobe Acrobat because of its following advantages:

Ability to associate handwritten / scanned signatures with the digital signature

Support for signature policies that mandate the sequence of signing i.e. no unspecified and out of turn signatures will be allowed.

Visible signature status for Acrobat documents i.e. signature status shown at top left corner of the signature block

Ability to associate the reason for signing, location, signing comment (if any) etc.

Support for OCSP, CAM validation

Provides cross compatibility i.e. Acrobat file signed in one version can be verified through another version.

Functioning with IE, Netscape and Entrust security framework

Set profiles to automate the common applications like signing / encryption which reduces the time involved in the operations as all settings are pre defined and stored.

Time stamping the document at the time of signing.

Provides time referencing of certificates i.e. during the verification process it can be determined if the certificate was valid at the time of signing

Verification of signed documents can be freely done by third parties without having the signing software
