E-business today has gained wide spread popularity amongst organizations shifting from traditional paper-based systems to electronic transactions. Electronic transactions actually go much beyond the actual digital signing of documents. The need to be able to verify the authenticity of the person sending critical data via the Internet has gained tremendous importance. One needs to ascertain the identity of the sender and the authenticity of the data received and viewed.
Complex digital signature products are used by organizations to sign documents. The recipients of this information would in turn need to verify the source and authenticity of information. More importantly, within any e-business scenario, one or few persons conduct the actual signing process, while the document may have to be ratified or viewed by multiple people.
It would be impractical for all users involved to have complex and extensive digital signature products, particularly since most of them would simply be viewing signed data. The only need of such users would be to verify and establish the authenticity of the source of the information. Considering this, E-Lock has developed a simple digital signature verification plug-in - The E-Lock Reader.
The E-Lock Reader allows users to verify files or documents that have been digitally signed. It integrates with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel and allows users to verify signed documents from within these applications. Apart from this, it also integrates with the Windows Explorer and lets users verify files of any format by simply right-clicking the signed files.
