How does DeskSeal Web Work? |
| |
| |
DeskSeal Web is a web-based digital signing and encryption solution. It is PKCS#7 compliant solution, which can be deployed in an environment consisting many users. |
| |
DeskSeal Web is based on the client-server architecture. It consists of the client component and the server component. Client component acts as the interface between the client machine and the server. It is a small auto-download component, which downloads for the first time when client signs the document |
| |
| |
| |
| |
DeskSeal Web enables users to sign and submit documents of any format. |
The user can either sign the file locally (i.e. on his machine) and upload it to the server or can sign file existing on the server. |
Also documents (PDF, Doc, HTM) can be made available from the website that users can open, view, sign and submit. |
| |
Steps to Sign and submit documents of any format |
| |
1. Users from any part of the world can create or select the files from local machine or the company server.
2. The users select the certificate to sign with.
3. Users can optionally provide the reason for signing and location
4. After signing the signed file gets uploaded to the server automatically
| |
List documents to be signed on the website / server |
| |
DeskSeal Web allows organizations to keep the documents that need to be signed on its website or server. Users can connect to the server and view the document they want to sign. When the user selects the document to sign, an html page opens up with 2 frames, the top frame displays the document to be signed and the bottom frame provides a button to sign / verify the document. |
| |
Signing |
| |
The client component is in the form of very small cab file (600 KB), which gets auto downloaded the first time the user connects. This component displays to the user the list of digital certificates present on the machine and enables the user to select a certificate to digitally sign the document. |
| |
Multiple Signatures |
| |
DeskSeal Web also supports the multiple signatures for hierarchical and parallel digital signing. Information on all signers is provided in a single glance. It provides the facility wherein all previous signatures can be independently verified.
| |
Verification |
| |
The Signed documents can be verified which provides information on the Data Integrity, Certificate Status (whether valid, expired or revoked) and Certificate Trust. |
| |
Encryption |
| |
It enables users to encrypt files of any format. The user needs to specify the recipients for whom the file should be encrypted. The user needs to select the recipient's public certificates in order to encrypt for them. These public certificates can be in .cer or .crt format
| |
Decryption
| |
The main function of this component is to decrypt the file. A user will only be able to decrypt a file if he/she has been specified as a recipient.
