How does DeskSeal Desktop work? |
| |
DeskSeal Desktop is a wizard-based utility, which guides the users step by step on how to sign the documents and verify them. This enables even the novice users to digitally sign the document with ease and verify the signed documents. DeskSeal Desktop provides two basic functions that is signing the files of any format and verifying them. |
| |
|
Signing |
| |
To sign the files with DeskSeal Desktop all that a user needs is an x.509 digital certificate, which can be on computer, a file, a floppy, an e-token or a smart card. DeskSeal enables users to select digital certificate from any of these locations and use it to sign files of any format |
| |
|
| |
An intuitive wizard of DeskSeal Desktop guides user through the signing process. This makes signing extremely simple even for first time users. |
| |
|
| |
Wizard asks the users to select a file of any format to sign and then select the location of the certificate (digital certificate) to sign that file. As required by law in many countries, prior to actual signing of a document, the user is presented with a signing confirmation indicating that signing is about to take place and that it may have legal significance. The user's acceptance to this confirmation represents an understanding and consent of the electronic signing. |
| |
|
|
Verification |
| |
Since files signed through DeskSeal are PKCS #7 compliant, users are not restricted to verifying the files through DeskSeal, they can do so through any PKCS #7 compliant application or use Free Reader provided by E-Lock, for verification. |
| |
|
| |
The verification checks for data integrity, which ensures that the contents in the file have not changed after being signed. It also checks for the validity of the certificate used to sign. If the certificate has been revoked or has expired, the verification will detect it and inform the user accordingly. |
| |
